A Perfect Base for Hikers & Pilgrims
The Hérault is the kind of place every long-distance walker hopes to stumble upon. We sit right on the doorstep of the Via Tolosana (GR 653), one of the four great historic pilgrim roads to Santiago de Compostela, a magnificent 800-kilometre journey stretching from Arles all the way to the Col du Somport on the Spanish border. The trails don't stop at Compostela's road either. The GR 78 — Chemin de Fontcaude winds nearby, linking the Way of Arles to the Way of the Pyrenean Foothills across 61 kilometres of beautiful Hérault countryside. Heading toward the Minervois? The Voie du Piémont traces a stunning 100-kilometre path from Béziers to Carcassonne through sun-drenched vineyards, pine forests and ancient hills. And for those who love to wander without a fixed destination, the Hérault is criss-crossed with shorter loops and multi-day.
A good day's walking starts the night before with a comfortable bed, and a table set for breakfast in the morning, and if you need a packed snack or a proper hiking lunch to carry with you, we can arrange that. We can also drive you to the trailhead if your stage starts a few kilometres away, so you can save your legs for what matters. Come back in the evening, kick off your boots, and relax in our garden.
